Contentment Underfoot

Of course the average Thursday can't look like jet-setting to the Swiss Alps for a ski and a Hot Toddy; this we know. But who's to say that you can't treat yourself to a daily getaway through a meditative practice of imagination?

In the same way that a woolen rug adds instantaneous warmth to a rich hardwood floor, it can also trip a fuse in our minds, telling our head and heart to drop our shoulders, lose our socks and to dust off the outside world because we're finally back at home.

Though we love all our pile heights just the same, there's an argument to be made for the magical abilities of a tall pile for this method. As our co-founder Tibs puts it: "it’s as if the material is reaching out to the interior and those within it."

The ritual is simple: anytime you're looking for a break, a moment to recenter, find your feet. Don't jump out of bed or off the sofa; don't rush full stop. Take a minute or even two to notice the posture of each loop of wool. Consider the tale of the sheep that was sheared to achieve it and the Moroccan sunsets full of tangerine and pomegranate clouds that colored the sky above the artisans who washed the rug five times, ensuring every strand of fabric was cared for. A timelapse of eternity is what you'll see.
