Musings
Do objects have souls? Magical realism, animism and surrealism of all sorts have been on our mind lately. Perhaps it has something to do with the desert sun.

A Trumpet shell sings the song of the tides long past when it seems like it should. Can you hear it?
The surrealists used to say that there is no object, only subject. With this declaration, they concretely implied that meaning is braided into every fleck of existence from a desk chair to a marshmallow moments away from its delicious demise. The potential of this idea is so potent, we can almost smell it. Notes of sandalwood; ripe cherries. Following this train of thought, if everything is something and nothing is nothing then it seems simple to us that any object can be used as a kind of kaleidoscope to see the world through. Ragged blankets turn into treasured heirlooms passed down through generations like stories whispered into flashlights.
Beyond a shadow of a doubt, every single thing has a soul.

Pay attention.
Be astonished.
Tell about it.”

This tender collision of the material and spiritual world is our square one. With every rug we produce, a root system is sustained – one that runs deep and long, spider-webbing left and right. This connects us to the heritage craft that we’re dedicated to protect; a storied practice that existed before us and will carry on without us through the winds of time and space. It’s with immense pleasure and joy that we get to coexist in this spiral of time – here and now, together.
